The short version
We believe in one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and reigns as Lord.
We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, that all people are created in God's image yet separated from Him by sin, and that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
We affirm the biblical view of marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, and that human identity is rooted in God's design.
We believe God is the ultimate Creator, that human creativity reflects His image, and that Christian filmmakers are called to steward their gifts with excellence, integrity, and faithfulness for the glory of God and the good of others.
God
We believe in one true and living God, who is uncreated, eternal, self-existent, and sovereign over all things. God is the great "I AM," the Creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible.
God exists eternally as one God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in essence, power, and glory.
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
Deuteronomy 6:4
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh without ceasing to be God. He is not partially God or partially man, but fully and truly both, united in one person.
Jesus is uncreated and existed with the Father before all time. Through Him all things were made, and nothing that exists came into being apart from Him.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless and perfect life, and willingly laid down His life as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners, fulfilling the Scriptures.
But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities.
Isaiah 53:5
He was buried, and on the third day He rose bodily from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, where He reigns as Lord and will return again to judge the living and the dead.
He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God, the third person of the Trinity.
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates the hearts of believers, indwells those who belong to Christ, and empowers them for obedience, holiness, wisdom, and bold witness. All true believers are sealed with the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of their salvation.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.
John 14:16
Scripture
We believe that the Holy Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired, authoritative, and sufficient Word of God, without error in their original writings. Scripture is the final authority for Christian faith, doctrine, and life.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16
Humanity and Sin
We believe that all humanity is created in the image of God, male and female, with inherent dignity and value.
So God created man in his own image, male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27
Through the sin of Adam, sin entered the world, and all people are born with a sinful nature, separated from God, and unable to save themselves. Because of sin, all people stand under God's righteous judgment and are in need of redemption.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. There is no salvation apart from Christ, and no amount of good works can reconcile a sinner to God. Salvation requires repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Christian Living and Obedience
We believe that those who are saved are called to love God above all things and to love one another, living lives marked by obedience, holiness, humility, and good works.
If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
John 14:15
Christians are called to honor God in every area of life, including work, relationships, and creative labor, doing all things for His glory.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.
Colossians 3:23
Marriage, Gender, and Human Identity
We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant instituted by God, defined as a lifelong union between one man and one woman.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife.
Genesis 2:24
We affirm that gender is a good and intentional gift from God, created as male and female, and that human identity is rooted in God's design rather than in self-definition.
While we are called to love all people with compassion and dignity, we hold to the biblical teaching on marriage, sexuality, and human identity as revealed in Scripture.
Creation, Creativity, and Stewardship
We believe that God is the ultimate Creator, and that all creation reflects His glory, beauty, order, and wisdom.
The heavens declare the glory of God.
Psalm 19:1
Human creativity flows from being made in the image of a creative God. From the beginning, humanity was called to steward, cultivate, and shape creation under God's authority.
The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
Genesis 2:15
Scripture affirms that God intentionally calls and equips artists and craftsmen for His purposes. God filled Bezalel with His Spirit, granting wisdom, understanding, and skill to create the Ark of the Covenant and the furnishings of the Tabernacle.
I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship.
Exodus 31:3
The Tabernacle and Temple demonstrate that God values beauty, excellence, craftsmanship, and the use of the finest materials, not for human pride, but for His glory.
You shall make holy garments, for glory and for beauty.
Exodus 28:2
We believe that Christians are called to steward their creative gifts with faithfulness, discipline, integrity, and excellence, recognizing that all skill ultimately comes from God. For Christian filmmakers, creativity is an act of stewardship, using storytelling, image, sound, and craft to reflect truth, confront sin, reveal beauty, and point toward redemption.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.

The Gospel and Our Calling
We believe that Christians are called to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and bear witness to the truth of Jesus Christ in both word and deed.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.
Matthew 28:19
As Christian filmmakers, we affirm that storytelling is a powerful means of communicating truth and shaping how people understand the world. Whether implicitly or explicitly, our work should honor Christ and reflect a biblical worldview.
How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!

Closing Affirmation
The Christian Filmmakers Guild exists to honor God through filmmaking, to pursue excellence in craft, and to support one another as believers who desire to steward their God-given gifts for the glory of God and the good of others.
